Meg, the Artist.
I hop-scotch between moments of being seen in the South Asian diaspora, to being completely confused by the lack of representation of modern South Indian art that goes beyond the over-simplified, tired tropes. My driving force is the very need to make art that other people like myself can resonate with using digital tools to blend my various identities.
My digital art explores the complexities of South Indian identity within the Western creative landscape—blending personal history, cultural motifs, and a deep desire for representation beyond clichés. My art draws from my life in Chennai and Hyderabad, weaving in temple arches, floral block prints, fabric weaving patterns, and folktales passed down by my Amma and Pati. Through vibrant, kaleidoscopic visuals, I aim to create resonance for those navigating layered identities like mine.
My work has been showcased in RAW Artists Showcase, Pancakes & Booze, Artist Project, and In_______Between.
Available for exhibition and freelance/commision projects.
